The Fourth

There's just something about the Fourth of July on the Central Coast that keeps us going back for more… Michael and Farah hosted their first of many 4th of July celebrations at The Nest aka their lovely new house in Santa Maria.

The festive decor was Americarrific, the food was delicious and the "organized fun" – Name the 50 States, Presidential Trivia & Patriotic/Summer-Themed Scattegories – was the icing on the cake (or was it the homemade whipped cream on the fresh-picked blueberries??).

"Ravishing Rose" and
"Faded Glory" were in their prime and looking festive for the occasion.

When dusk came around, the Shaldwelgrins hit the street and got their sparkler on, complete with time-lapse sparkler painting (S for Susie by Suzie, heart by Lisa for Kyle), interpretive sparkler dance renditions of Pocahontas tunes (Diane) and creepy firecracker troll dancing (Michael – bottom left, caught in the act!).

The big surprise of the night (look at Diane & Susie's excited pointing & clapping) was the continuous (almost an hour long!) and unexpected renegade fireworks shows, primarily to the South of the house. What a night!

We can't wait for the second annual 4th of July celebration at the Nest!
